The obedience of faith
What did the Prophet Elijah say when the fire of the Lord fell on Mount Carmel and consumed the burnt sacrifice? “I have done all these things at Your word.” Nothing more and nothing less. But we often want to add something, because we like it that way, or on the other hand we think that something is extreme. However, God wants us to learn obedience through small things; He teaches us to walk in the Spirit, to follow Christ. Jesus says: “Follow Me.” (Lk 5:27), and He also says: “Father, My food is to do Your will.” Whose will do I do? My own – as the mood takes me? Or the will of a spirit of jealousy, anger, revenge, mammon or an unclean spirit? Who do I serve? Myself? We should be the servants of the Most High! Our victory is with Him! And it does not matter at all whether someone kills us in the fight or withdraws us from the battle. We do not care. We only care about one thing: seeking and doing God’s will. And then… as the Apostle Paul says: “There is laid up for me the crown of righteousness … and not for me only…” He preached the Word of God in power rather than the letter of Scripture which is preached by modern liberal theologians. However, we will not receive the power of God and the wisdom of God without prayer. Prayer is the foundation. It decides victory. Without prayer, without contact with God, without this obedience of faith, evangelists, teachers, prophets, pastors or apostles will do nothing useful for the kingdom of God. Rather, they will have a quarrel or a fight. To achieve harmony and to do the will of God, each in the place where God has put us, we need a living faith, the obedience of faith. Then the Body of Christ – the Church – will really grow, make progress. We cannot serve ourselves or nourish competition, jealousy… Lift up your hearts! Let us be ready for service: “Lord, here I am! I await Your orders! What do You want me to do? What is Your will?” “Father, My food is to do Your will,” Jesus says. We have received Him, and we should realize that He is in us. When we pray the Prayer of unity and power (see http://uogcc.org.ua/en/letters/article/?article=14459), we realize the presence of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in us. In this power we can lift mountains of demons. Let us be watchful in prayer. There is no need of feelings or emotions; we only need to focus wholly on the Word of God, to be in the presence of God and to return to His presence time and time again, to concentrate and stand in the faith: That’s the reality! It is done!
