A critical view of the papacy

The purpose of a critical view of the papacy is not its elimination, as attempted by some cardinals or liberal theologians. The purpose is its purification.

How did the Apostle Peter and his successors understand the papacy in the first three centuries? In the first place in such way that they themselves, dying a martyr’s death, witnessed to Christ. Jesus is the Son of God who died for our sins and, being God, rose again from the dead historically and really. There is salvation in no one else (Acts 4:12).

The authority in the Church is based on the vertical – on the relationship to God – and determines the horizontal – human relationships. The essence of the papacy is to protect the vertical, i.e. to protect the Church against heresies in matters of faith and morals. If the Pope does so, every Christian, including non-Catholics, must gratefully accept this service of his, even if they do not fall within his jurisdiction, such as the Orthodox or Protestants. If the Pope neglects to protect the Church against heresies, or if he does the opposite, as is the case today, he does harm to the whole Church. Every Christian must distance himself from such a manifest heretic.

The penalty for an abuse of ecclesiastical authority is determined by Gal 1:8-9 and by the Dogmatic Bull of Paul IV. If a bishop or Pope proclaims heresies, he is automatically excommunicated from the Church and all of his actions are without force.

The paradox is that the liberal leaders of the non-Catholic Churches are in unity with the current heretical papacy.

Today we are witnesses to a spiritual and moral crisis in all the Christian Churches. Instead of protecting the faith, the highest authorities promote heresies of neo-Modernism and syncretism. Instead of protecting moral values, they tolerate and legalize immorality (LGBTQ). Heretical authority gradually changes the truths of faith. If you have the saving faith and you live by it, you will be saved. If you refuse to repent of heresies, you will be condemned.

The turning point in the Catholic Church was Vatican Council II. Francis and his heresies only bring the spirit of the Council to perfection, leading the Church to the self-destruction of the papacy. By reason of Francis’ heresies, the Byzantine Catholic Patriarchate made his excommunication from the Church public (14 February 2018).

What does the present time demand? The papacy needs to be purified of heresies and the spirit of the world, and it must begin to serve the Church again as the pillar of faith and truth and as a guarantee of unity. Jesus did not pray for religious globalization in the New Age but for inward unity with Him – with Jesus and with the Father (cf. Jn 17:21).
