Response to the pastoral letter of Head of the UGCC L. Husar (part 1)

 

 

The pastoral letter of L. Husar is a real shock. He publicly calls our Ukrainian orthodox Greek-Catholic Church (UOGCC) a sect. The term sect produces in every man a feeling of aversion and horror. Sects are occult religious organizations that smuggle drugs or weapons, liquidate their members and organize mass suicides. Husar commits malicious denigration and foments religious hatred in relation to us. In conformity with the criminal code of Ukraine, these crimes carry a penalty of 2-5 years’ imprisonment. According to the law of God, his pastoral letter is a sin against the Holy Spirit because it deliberately perverts the essence of the truth with the intention to destroy God’s work.

 

We defend God’s laws, Husar denies them (an overt approval of homosexuality – see Discussions with His Beatitude L. Husar: On Postconfessional Christianity /Бесіди з Блаженнішим Любомиром Гузаром: До постконфесійного християнства/, p.67).

 

Quotation: “In recent time we have seen on our territory an agitated activity of a sectarian group of the Dohnalites, or as some call them – the Pidhirtsi fathers...”

Response: The Ukrainian orthodox Greek-Catholic Church (UOGCC) is neither a sect nor a sectarian group. The UOGCC has its Bishops’ Synod (7 bishops), priests, monks, nuns and believers. On 11th August 2009, the Ukrainian orthodox Greek-Catholic Church was established by separation from the heretical leadership on grounds of Cardinal Husar’s proclamation of heresies and the UGCC hierarchy’s unity with him and with his heresies. This was the only way of preserving the heritage of the martyrish Church and her orthodox doctrine without which it would cease to be not only a Catholic but even a Christian Church. Speaking about a sect, this does not apply to us but rather to those who have deviated from the Catholic doctrine by proclamation of heresies, namely Card. Husar and the hierarchy united with him. These now unlawfully hold sway over the faithful of the martyrish UGCC.

 

Quotation: “...on our territory...”

Response: Husar came to Ukraine as an American only after the fall of Communism and unlawfully usurped the Church power “on our territory”. He established a heretical structure which does not represent the spirit and teaching of the martyrish orthodox Church but the apostatical spirit of the Western theology. An apostate has no right to appropriate the territory of Ukraine which is soaked with the blood of martyrs. This traitorous hierarchy destroys the last remnants of the true-Catholic martyrish Church and drives the Spirit of Christ out of the future priests, religious and all those who suffered under Communism and did not betray Christ. It does so by cunning and deceit and, moreover, by giving promises of money and career or by threatening with harsh punishments unless one submits to its dictatorship. It thus breaks the characters of priests and religious and destroys the saving faith. When after the fall of Communism Datsko took over the leadership and then Husar was installed, people felt there was something wrong but could not believe that persecution and destruction of the martyrish Church might come from within – from their own so-called official hierarchy which they had been waiting for throughout the period of Communism. Husar’s hierarchy usurped the offices, by exerting constant pressure removed the orthodox priests from the key posts, installed its own priests and changed the spirit in the Church. Now the seminaries, the UCU, the new novitiate formation as well as the study and formation in the West train up renegades to destroy the last remains of the martyrish orthodox Church.

 

Quotation: “This sect, using cunning and deceit...”

Response: The UOGCC is no sect and uses no cunning or deceit; on the contrary it acts honestly and openly, preaching the full Gospel of Christ, behind which is the Spirit of God. It leads the believers to true conversion, true repentance and true following of Christ. Like St. Basil, we orthodox Catholics call a lie a lie, the truth the truth, a sin a sin, a heresy a heresy.

 

It is the hierarchy of the UGCC who use cunning and deceit. Facts:

- Husar usurped the leadership of the UGCC in 1996 by cunning (see Memorandum by Archbishop S. Sulyk).

- The main deceit of the apostatical hierarchy is that they consciously implant the spirit of heresy and the spirit of the world in the UGCC, but officially act as representatives of the orthodox church doctrine. It is a cunning deceit.

- By means of cunning psychological methods, Husar’s structure has little by little poisoned and deceived the faithful. On his CD “The Way into One’s Self”, Husar says that it is necessary that the two generations of believers who lived under Communism should die out. And then there is hope that the Ukrainian believers, who will consequently lose the saving faith, will fully adopt a new model of so-called postconfessional Christianity. But this is total apostasy from Christ and from the true Catholic Church and the way to eternal perdition. In other words, he says that all those who have a sound root from the time of the Catacomb Church under Communism and do not let themselves be deceived must die. Husar is aware of the danger that these orthodox Catholics could join the orthodox structure of our Church and separate from heresies. This would reveal the background of the apostatical structure and one could easily distinguish who is a wolf and who is the shepherd. But this is what Husar wants to avoid. The plan of the Western apostatical circles, which have usurped the leadership of the Greek-Catholic Church, was and is to inconspicuously drive out the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the orthodox doctrine of our martyrish Church, and to implant the spirit of New Age and the spirit of the world instead. Their greatest supporter in this plan is the official Church structure. Through false obedience and punishments they destroy everyone who wants to remain faithful to Christ and has His Spirit. This all is a cunning deceit.

- They deceive the Greek-Catholic believers when in every liturgy they title them “all you Orthodox (православний) Christians”. It is a cunning deceit.

- In the liturgy the priests must mention Husar as the Patriarch, though he is no patriarch and there is no document from Rome either which would say that he is one. It is a cunning deceit.

- Chortkiv, November 2010: Orthodox Catholics announced a peaceful manifestation scheduled for Sunday, 14th November. Public authorities had a duty to see to its peaceful course. However, when a bus with 50 believers of the orthodox Greek-Catholic Church arrived at the manifestation, about 200 metres from the church on the open road they were attacked by seminarians, under-age students of a choir high school and deceived men from different parishes of Chortkiv and neighbourhood. The attack on peaceful orthodox Catholics had been organized by the Chortkiv administrator Hryhorak. The orthodox Catholics were pushed by a lynching mob of about 400 hired assaulters up to the bus station. The police neglected their duties. The orthodox Catholics were left on their own and had to defend themselves, though they were powerless against such overwhelming odds. The eparchial administration of Chortkiv spread rumours that the defending men violently attacked and injured the “poor” aggressors. Two most aggressive boys, who two days before had been kicking and beating the religious sisters, striking them to the ground and tearing off their veils, and who were present in the attack on 14th November again, suffered some blows from the orthodox Catholics in self-defence. That was a welcome “tragedy” for Hryhorak. He needed to disguise the essence of the problem – to divert attention from the sisters injured. A few days later Hryhorak made a heart-rending report: he put one of the young aggressors in bed and said that he was in hospital waiting for a major operation. In fact, it was all a comedy as on the same evening both aggressors, without the least sign of injury, were actively engaged in a hateful campaign against the sisters in the village of Probizhna. The distorted information of the Chortkiv eparchy is a cunning deceit.

- The Ukrainian Catholic University, or UCU, is not a Catholic university. Why? Because it does not have the spirit of true Catholic faith but the spirit of apostasy and the spirit of New Age. The liturgy remains the same, the prayers, if there are still any, are the same, but the basis on which the UCU is established is neither Catholic, nor Orthodox, but heretical. The UCU practically supports all Husar’s heresies which are contained in the book “Discussions with His Beatitude L. Husar: On Postconfessional Christianity”. The formation of young people from Catholic families at this university does not lead them to become pioneers of sound Christianity in Ukraine, but rather to destroy true and living Christianity. It is a cunning deceit when this university calls itself Catholic.

- What is the so-called Religious Information Service of Ukraine (RISU)? It claims to be an impartial information service, but in reality it is an apostatical base for systematic destruction of orthodox Christianity in the UGCC, of the young Catholic and Orthodox generation as well as for the spiritual poisoning of all the sincerely seeking (see so-called web-conferences of 2-8 December with V. Dutkevych). So it is a cunning deceit when RISU claims to be objective.

- The so-called Catholic seminaries, which form the new Catholic generation, have already embraced a heretical teaching and a heretical spirit. They do not lead the seminarians to true conversion, repentance and the following of Christ but to the loss of the saving faith, that means, to the loss of Catholic orthodoxy. The unconverted deluded students, who do not have the Spirit of Christ but the spirit of Western theological ideology, are no longer able to distinguish what is the inheritance of the orthodox martyrish Church from what is the modern trend of apostasy. It is a cunning deceit when the contemporary formation, or rather deformation, in the Catholic seminaries in Ukraine is called Catholic.

- The apostatical structure plays on the sincerity and ignorance of the Catholic faithful. It deceives them by its officiality. All the deceived dig their own grave when they oppose the orthodox Greek-Catholic Church and its Bishops’ Synod with all vehemence. The orthodox Synod defends the purity of faith and is the true heir to the martyrish orthodox Church. To declare an orthodox Church to be a sect and schismatics is a cunning deceit and, moreover, a sin against the Holy Spirit.

 

Quotation: “...using cunning and deceit, wearing clerical and monastic garment...”

Response: The UOGCC has regular bishops, priests, monks and nuns. As far as ecclesiastical garment is concerned, it is deceptive in the case of the apostatical Church hierarchy. Wearing of ecclesiastical garment is merely an outward sign. What is worse, however, is that the traitorous hierarchy holds the offices unrighteously. Therefore there was a need of separation and of restoration of the faith – the orthodox branch, which is the true heir to the martyrish Church, separated from the heretical one and established its own structure. There is no other way of preserving the orthodox Catholic faith. The apostatical hierarchy will not surrender their positions voluntarily. It lives as a parasite on the Greek-Catholic Church and leads sincere Catholics to perdition by cunning and deceit. Our Bishops’ Synod announced the establishment of the orthodox branch to the Holy Father. The UOGCC is in full unity with him. The Holy Father has known about our every step of the restoration of the Church already for three years. Our theological, apologetic and educational activity has a positive impact on the Western Church as well.

 

Quotation: “...seeks to lead astray the faithful sons and daughters of our Church...”

Response: We do not lead astray the faithful sons and daughters of the Church but the apostatical hierarchy does so by cunning and deceit.

 

Quotation: “...thus exposing themselves and the misled souls to the danger of eternal damnation.”

Response: On the contrary, we warn against the danger of eternal damnation and we ourselves follow the path of conversion and repentance, which is the only way to salvation. And we lead the souls entrusted to us along the same path. Unfortunately, the apostatical hierarchy has its focus elsewhere. Husar said: “What other protection (than money) do we have?” (see CDs “The Way into One’s Self”). In the interviews on the CDs one can perceive the spirit of the world, which has nothing in common with the spirit of repentance and true proclamation of the Gospel. This spirit is behind all Husar’s speeches, both written and spoken. He does not preach the crucified and risen Christ, the only Saviour from sins which are the cause of eternal damnation. On the contrary, he makes light of sin and even normalizes and approves of the sin of the Sodomites (see Discussions..., p.67). It is he and the apostatical structure united with him who cunningly deceive the sons and daughters of the UGCC.

The orthodox Greek-Catholic Church, by contrast, calls a sin a sin and an abomination an abomination. In 2010, the believers of the UOGCC held more than 10 demonstrations against legalization of the sin of the Sodomites in Ukraine. The hierarchy of the UGCC consciously lied, arguing that there was no danger of this epidemic in Ukraine, and categorically prohibited participation in these demonstrations for the protection of the family.

 

Quotation: “Enemies of our Church, conscious of the strong bond between the Ukrainian nation and the home Church, which has always been its support, seek to separate our nation from the hard Peter’s rock...”

Response: These words do not apply to us but fully to the apostatical hierarchy of the UGCC. In his book Discussions... (p.57), Husar rejects the nature of papal primacy with the words “cum Petro – yes, sub Petro – no” – that means, not in true unity with Peter, who visibly represents the orthodox doctrine and the orthodox morals of the Gospel without heresy, but only independently (in heresy) standing beside Peter (cum Petro). We do not separate the believers from Peter’s rock but Husar does so little by little with insidiousness.

 

Quotation: “...in order to weaken it (the nation) both spiritually and morally...”

Response: It is heresies, occultism and homosexuality which spiritually and morally weaken not only the individual and the Church but the whole nation. As for us, we fight against heresies, against all forms of occultism as well as against homosexual immorality. The apostatical hierarchy, on the other hand, approves of heresies, occultism as well as homosexual immorality and thus weakens the nation both spiritually and morally. Modern forms of occultism include homoeopathy and acupuncture, oriental meditations and massages. Former Superior General of OSBM and Head of religious, sr. Dia Stasyuk, actively promotes homoeopathy. Most religious of the UGCC have thus opened up to an occult spirituality which is diametrically opposed to the orthodox doctrine of the Church.

 

Quotation: “...(they) resort not to violence as in the time of the Communist terror but to deceit...”

Response: Husar’s structure does not destroy the Church by force but by deceit through covert heresies and the apostatical spirit from the West. The orthodox Catholic Church, by contrast, seeks a true renewal of the Church.

 

Quotation: “These ravening wolves in sheep’s clothing aim to cause confusion and separation in the flock of Christ...”

Response: The bishop who does not confess that Jesus Christ rose from the dead historically and really and that He is the only Saviour is a heretic – a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The bishop who casts doubt upon the Divinity of Christ and compares the mystery of the Incarnation to the pagan attraction deus ex machina is a deceiver of the flock. The bishop who does not preach clearly the orthodox doctrine of the Church and does not give it first priority either in his life or by his authority but rather makes light of the salvific truths of the Gospel is a murderer of the souls – a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The bishop who casts doubt upon the Virginity of the Mother of God, saying that she is like any other woman and comparing her to a pagan goddess of the Upanishads behind whom are the demonic forces (see Discussions..., p.48), is a blasphemer – a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The bishop who approves of occultism, and he himself divines by pendulum, is an apostate – a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The bishop who approves of homosexuality opposes God’s Word as well as the whole Church’s Tradition. Such bishop demoralises the nation and leads it into both temporal and eternal perdition – he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The bishop who casts doubt upon the eternity of hell and eternal damnation, undermines the fundamental truths of the Gospel and leads the souls to eternal perdition is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The bishop who has the spirit of Freemasons and maintains unity and friendly relations with them, regarding them as the nation’s elite and the renewal of spirituality, is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

These wolves in sheep’s clothing aim to cause and have already caused confusion and separation in the flock of Christ. By means of various psychologies, heretical theologies and misleading philosophies they separate the flock of Christ from the salvific divine truths and lead it to eternal perdition.

 

Quotation: “...falsely declaring themselves to be Greek-Catholic bishops, priests, monks and nuns...”

Response: Who falsely declares oneself a Catholic bishop, priest, monk or nun? The one who is in unity with the biblical and Catholic teaching, defends it and is persecuted for this faithfulness to Christ and to His Gospel, or the one who preaches heresies and immorality?

 

Quotation: “...manipulating the quotations from the Holy Scripture...”

Response: We do not manipulate the quotations from the Holy Scripture nor distort them in the spirit of lies and heresy as it is done by the apostatical hierarchy and heretical theologians. We interpret the Holy Scripture in the same Spirit as it was done by the Apostles, Church Fathers and the Church for 2000 years. The apostatical hierarchy, by contrast, speaks about a new view of the Holy Scripture and gives a new interpretation. But this is a cunning deceit. In Western Europe the fruit is apostasy from Christianity and an open door for Islamization, Buddhism and Hinduism. Unlike the apostatical hierarchy, we defend the truths of the faith even against the invasion of these religions which destroy Christianity. The apostatical hierarchy destroys the remaining healthy roots of the faith under a false slogan of a regard for paganism.

 

Quotation: “...uttering slanders about our churches and their rectors...”

Response: We do not utter slanders but they do in relation to our orthodox Catholic Church. They manipulate public opinion, using smear leaflets, web-conferences, religious journals and Husar’s pastoral letter. The aim is to deceive the public and make it believe that we are a sect, and to force the authorities to commit lawlessness and destroy us innocent. This is done through public slanders about the orthodox Catholic Church and its leadership. If we point out in truth the apostatical spirit and the spirit of the world which many priests receive on the pattern of the apostatical hierarchy, we always offer a positive solution. And this is the best contribution to the salvation of the true Christian faith in Ukraine. “If criticism pursues correction, it is no denigration.” (St. Basil, Short Rules, N.25).

 

Quotation: “...and praising only another Church which is not in unity with the Holy See.”

Response: We do not know whom exactly he means here, but we suppose that he means our expression of praise of the Orthodox Church after its hierarchy mobilized the faithful to demonstrate in front of the Parliament against the introduction of microchips with the number 666 and against legalization of homosexuality and the juvenile justice system. We call evil evil and good good: Honour to whom honour is due. We would gladly commend the hierarchy of the UGCC, but unfortunately it has so far organized no praiseworthy activities for the protection of the faithful and the nation.

 

Quotation: “...heretical denial of church authority...”

Response: Owing to his heresies, Husar himself has denied himself as church authority. We do not preach heresies but the true Catholic teaching, and we fight against heresies. An example from history: When most of the bishops fell away to Arianism, St. Basil the Great called for denial of their authority for the sake of saving the Church: “We flee from them as from godless people, pronouncing an anathema upon them.”

  

Quotation: “...curses upon all who are discordant with them...”

Response: We do not curse anyone, we just bring into the open the spiritual state of the apostate hierarchs and priests united with them, who have excluded themselves from the Church by reason of their heresies and obstinately persist in heresy. It is through their fault that they have fallen under an anathema – God’s curse, because they are discordant with the doctrine of the Church and hence with us too. An exception is the curse that was pronounced by Bishop Markian at the bus station in the town of Chortkiv on 14th November 2010. It was due to an attack on the believers of the orthodox Greek-Catholic Church by a mob deceived by the apostatical hierarchy (see video: www.uogcc.org.ua).

 

Quotation: “...occult-kabbalistic pronunciation of Hebrew words in a drawling manner, which is presented as a true form of prayer...”

Response: This refers to the contemplation of seven last statements of Christ on the cross. This prayer is similar to the Stations of the Cross. The penitent criminal cried out with faith: “Jesus!” “Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Acts 2:21) The name of Jesus in Aramaic is Jehoshua – “The Lord is salvation” – and expresses the essence of Jesus’ redemptive mission. In His first and last cry on the cross, Jesus Himself pronounces the name of the Father, Aramaic “Abba”, which expresses a relationship of particular intimacy between Him and the Heavenly Father. In His fifth statement, amid excruciating pain, Jesus cries: “My God” – “Eloi, Eloi!” in Aramaic. If one prays with faith by pronouncing Abba, Jehoshua, Eloi, it has nothing to do with kabbalah. On the contrary, it is an expression of a living relation to Christ dying on the cross and to the Heavenly Father. Kabbalah is a form of occultism, in which one turns to demons. By accusing us of kabbalah L. Husar actually makes the believers gain the impression that Jesus’ last words on the cross were occult-kabbalistic pronunciation of Hebrew words in a drawling manner. This is the height of blasphemy and degradation of Christ’s death which He suffered for our sake to deliver us from the slavery of sin and the devil. Associating true contemplation of Christ’s suffering with kabbalah is a blasphemy and a denial of the whole Christian Tradition. In the whole Tradition spiritual life has been founded on two main pillars: contemplation of the Last Things, i.e. death, judgement and eternity (hell and heaven), and contemplation of Christ’s suffering on the cross. A false accusation of kabbalah is denigration and a sin against the Holy Spirit.

 

Quotation: “...blasphemous divinisation of the Mother of God...”

Response: What does Husar say in his book about the Mother of God? He says that she was “simply a good wife, a good neighbour ... like all others ... and that is all” (see Discussions..., p.51). He omits to emphasize that she is full of grace (see Lk 1:28), that she was a Virgin before, during and after the birth of Christ and that she had been preserved from original sin, which is the teaching of the Church. And we too teach so in line with the Church. In addition, Husar blasphemously compares the Blessed Virgin to a pagan goddess from the Upanishads which represents the demonic forces. Our teaching about the Blessed Virgin is in conformity with the Catholic teaching, including the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. The nature of this mystery is expressed in the troparion: “You were not purified but preserved from all stain of original sin...” In the book Discussions..., Husar just “supposes” or expresses “his opinion” and thus muddies the waters. He does not preach the clear doctrine of the Church from the position of the authority; on the contrary, he questions all the essential truths. This is a sign of the spirit of heresy. Regarding the Catholic attitude towards the Most Holy Mother of God, we neither add nor detract from anything. Rather, we emphasize a very important moment, and that is the testament of Christ on the cross expressed in the words: “Behold, your Mother.” These words of Christ do not refer only to the disciple by the cross but to the disciples of all Christian generations. We emphasize that John was a disciple and, besides, that he stood by the cross which was the place where he received the Mother of Jesus into himself (Gr. eis ta idia, see Jn 19:27). St. Ambrose, Doctor of the Church, explains that through that inward reception he became her spiritual son. As many as have received Christ and become children of God, to them Jesus leaves His Mother. Therefore it is necessary to execute His last will, nothing more but also nothing less. The disciple John is an example to us.

Stating that we blasphemously divinise the Mother of God is a cunning deceit.

 

Quotation: “...sacrilegious divination by the beads of the Rosary...”

Response: Husar divines by pendulum and approves of occult principles in his book Discussions... (pp.62-63). We radically fight against them and distinguish them from true spiritual biblical principles. Holiness rests in doing the will of God. The will of God is revealed to us through the Decalogue and through Christ’s commandments and the Beatitudes. There we find a clear distinction between good and evil. In our life we are often faced with two options, neither of which contradicts God’s commandments. And this gives us an opportunity to seek the will of God for the particular situation. Example: After prayers and fasting, the apostles turned to God with faith and sought after His will by casting lots (see Acts 1:26). A similar practice is mentioned in the Old Testament when Moses, David or a high priest in the temple were seeking God’s will and God answered them by Urim and Thummim (sacred lots). It was no sacrilegious divination but a sincere desire to seek God’s will in faith. To seek a solution by pendulum is a sin of divination and is forbidden. St. Alphonsus says that the dowsing rod and the pendulum are moved by a demon.

 

If the apostles used lots, it was no divination. Through repentance they were in unity with God and with one another, and they all had a single aim – God’s will and not their own interests. If lots were used in deciding things that contradict God’s commandments and the conscience, it would be a sin. The decisive element in seeking God’s will is not the lot itself but our union with God and giving of the whole problem to Him. Seeking God’s will helps us to renounce our own will (see Ps 22:27).

As for the beads of the Rosary, it is well known that this means was used by St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe. We have already mentioned this practice of St. Maximilian but we do not recommend it.

 

Quotation: “...ruined lives, broken families...”

Response: What ruins human life and breaks families? Sin. Our spiritual retreat radically leads people to true repentance and conversion. We call a sin a sin and emphasize practical forgiveness. Many people testify that after the retreat, through hearing the full Gospel, they found the strength to change their lives. Drug addicts who were within an ace of death were delivered, alcoholics were liberated, others were set free from unclean dependences, families on the point of breaking up were saved, and even many believers were healed of physical diseases through faith. Besides, our public manifestations for the protection of the family and children, coupled with radical opposition to the gay epidemic and to the juvenile justice system, aim at saving the true Christian family and not at its breakup or destruction, as we are falsely accused. Unfortunately, the apostatical hierarchy of the UGCC does quite the opposite. By means of a pastoral letter and the mass media it prohibited participation of the faithful in these manifestations for the protection of the family. Ruined lives and broken families are the fruits of their apostatical work because they do not call a sin a sin, do not lead people to conversion and do not stress the vital importance of a living relationship to Christ who heals the souls and liberates them from slave dependences and from the power of the devil (see Acts 26:18) .

 

Quotation: “...a brigandish attempt to seize the Greek-Catholic church in the town of Chortkiv, assault on the students of the choir high school.”

Response: After the death of the parish priest Fr. Roman Shelepko, the parishioners of the Transfiguration church in Chortkiv convoked legal assembly and half of them transferred under the jurisdiction of the UOGCC. The church is not the property of the Chortkiv diocese but of the parishioners, so it was logical that both communities of the faithful would alternate in the use of the church. However, the Chortkiv administrator Hryhorak illegally changed the locks, which was the manifestation of a brigandish attempt to seize the church, and did not allow the orthodox Catholic part of the believers to alternate with his faithful in the celebration of the liturgies in the church. In addition, construction of the church was financially and labouringly associated with the orthodox religious community from Pidhirtsi the same as the deceased Fr. Roman was. The state authorities in Chortkiv were notified in advance that on Sunday, 14th November 2010, our faithful will celebrate the Divine Liturgy in front of the Transfiguration church in Chortkiv and that there will follow peaceful manifestation. According to the Ukrainian laws, the state authorities were obliged to enable it and secure it. 50 participants arrived at the manifestation by bus. At the public road, about 200 meters far from the church, they were illegally prevented from celebrating the Liturgy at least near the church. A crowd of about 400 hired assailants began to lynch and humiliate the small group of the orthodox Catholic faithful and started to forcibly press them to the local bus station. In a scuffle provoked by the assailants, two students, who attacked the orthodox Catholic faithful and sisters most, suffered slight injuries in the face. Video record of the Chortkiv eparchy shows one student with blood on his face. It was a conscious camouflage because it was not real blood; it was just drawn. For few minutes later this student is captured on video record totally unharmed. Chortkiv administrator deliberately detracted attention to these two students in order to cover up crimes of beating, kicking, striking defenceless sisters to the ground and tearing down their veils. In these assaults were extremely active two underage aggressors for whom the main responsibility falls on Hryhorak who exploited them for his purpose of incitement of religious hatred. These are criminal offences against the state as well as the Church laws. We ask: Who organized the seminarians who were not from Chortkiv? And who unified them with former members of the Hare Krishna sect and exploited them to an organized attack against the defenceless sisters on Friday, 12th November 2010? The whole Chortkiv action is evidence of brutal persecution of the orthodox Catholics on the part of the apostatical UGCC hierarchy and an example of manipulation of state authorities into indirect support of their criminal action. This is an obvious sign of religious discrimination against the orthodox Catholic Church with an aim not to allow her just alternation in the use of the church.

 

Quotation: “... this all is far from a complete list of activities of this sect.”

Response: These terrorist actions of the UGCC are far from a complete list of activities of this sect (apostatical hierarchy of the UGCC). We, the orthodox Greek-Catholics, would like L. Husar to present a complete list of fabricated and distorted activities. We would like to respond to them publicly so that the whole system of his lies would be unmasked.

 

Quotation: “By His Words: ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber.’ (Jn. 10:1) the Lord warns us against such false prophets who do not enter like legal shepherds of Christ’s flock but just like thieves and robbers who resort to deceit and pretend to be shepherds.”

Response: This statement as well as its exegesis refers to those shepherds who proved that they were not but are wolves and through heresies and immorality are beating to death the flock entrusted. They are thieves and robbers who resort to deceit and pretend to be shepherds. The quotation from the Holy Scripture and its distorted exegesis in no case can be related to us. This fully applies to all heretical bishops of the UGCC. Not we but God Himself by His Word in Galatians 1:8-9 imposes an anathema – excommunication from the Church – on them.

 

Quotation: „That is why our holy mother the Catholic and Apostolic Church – caring for the spiritual health of her children – was forced to acknowledge with sorrow that they (Elias, Samuel, Methodius, Markian) are niether Catholic priests nor religious ...“

Response: In the mouth of those who betrayed Christ these pious phrases about our holy mother the Catholic and Apostolic Church are blasphemy and sin against the Second Commandment. As for Bishop Elias, Bishop Samuel, Bishop Methodius and Bishop Markian, they are not only true monks of a reformed order but also true bishops of the Catholic Church.

 

Quotation: “... and because of the fact that they stubbornly deny to repent of their crimes against the Church and faith...”

Response: Who stubbornly denies to repent, in the lingo of the heretic Husar, is the one who is faithful to Christ and His teaching not letting himself be broken down and deny Christ and unite with heresies of treacherous leadership of the UGCC. That which Husar calls crimes against the Church and faith is, in fact, true heroism of the defence of the Church and the purity of faith and morals against the real criminals inside the Church, who destroy her by heresies. According to the apostates, the defence of the true faith against heresies is obstinate impenitence. In accordance with Husar’s terminology, all who are faithful to Christ as well as all saints obstinately deny to repent and commit crimes against the Church and faith.

 

Quotation: “... they have fallen under major excommunication which was sanctioned by the Apostolic See.”

Response: Under this major excommunication have not fallen the orthodox bishops of the UOGCC but the head of the UGCC Husar and the apostatical hierarchy united with him, and that owing to public proclamation of heresies and obstinate adherence to them. According to an unchanging law of God, which cannot be altered in any way even by the Apostolic See, it holds true: “If anyone is preaching a different gospel, let him be accursed – anathema” (Gal 1:8-9). Regardless of the canon codes, this God’s anathema has factually fallen upon L. Husar and upon the apostatical synod united with him in heresy. If the Apostolic See stood against God’s Word and publicly united with Husar’s heresies, it would cease to be the Apostolic See.

On the other hand, there is no papal document which would confirm Husar’s artificial excommunication for our episcopal ordinations! False allegation by Husar is another manifestation of a cunning deceit in relation to the believers and the public.

As for our consecrations, they were conferred in extraordinary conditions caused by the fact that the UGCC leadership began to preach heresies overtly. We were forced to receive episcopal consecrations from the hands of the orthodox bishops and we announced it to the Holy Father.
