Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilus III
Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostom II
Your Beatitudes,
the Byzantine Catholic Patriarchate turns to You in the matter of the prepared interfaith meeting which is to take place in Kiev on 25-26 April 2012. We hope that You are aware that this is a matter of syncretism which will weaken the Christian identity and bring a spiritual curse upon the territory of Ukraine. Since the Catholic Church opened itself to the spirit of Assisi – the spirit of antichrist – this curse fell particularly on the territories with the majority of Catholic population. This spirit considers Christianity and paganism to be equal paths to salvation, which is ‘haeresis maxima’.
We ask both of You to decline the invitation of the organizers because this meeting will cause great spiritual damage to Ukrainian Christians. If You participate in this syncretistic event, the Byzantine Catholic Patriarchate will declare an anathema – God’s curse – against You (see Gal 1:8-9).
