A lawsuit in the matter of registration

Since the State Committee of Ukraine on Matters of Nationalities and Religions refused to accept our petition for registration of the UOGCC, we had to appeal to court with our demand for legal registration. The leadership of the UOGCC thus entered into a lawsuit with the State Committee headed by Mr Reshetnikov. On 19th January 2010 a third party groundlessly but purposefully intruded into the proceedings, namely the apostate priest O. Fredyna along with four other employees of the Archbishopric of Lvov. Yet what right have they to intervene in a lawsuit which does not concern them? We are not at law with them and, on the other hand, they are not competent to mediate legal registration for us. Moreover, they have opposite interests. Their aim is to thwart this registration even at the cost of violating the state laws by dishonest means of influencing various state officials. This all is contrary to the laws of Ukraine. The outcome of the lawsuit was about to speak in our favour, as the matter in dispute was observance of the law of Ukraine. Nonetheless, the third party biased the course of the proceedings. In the previous session the court had denied its application for intervention as groundless. The trial was now transferred from Lvov to Kiev and adjourned to a later date.

We are aware that these are matters of God and one has to fight for them and for God’s truth perseveringly not only in prayers. During the fight the spirit and intentions of everyone become revealed.

The court in Lvov came to the conclusion that the State Committee of Ukraine on Matters of Nationalities and Religions has to deal with the petition for registration of the statute of the UOGCC and give the reply: either it will grant the registration or not. Here we can see a bias on the part of the State Committee of Ukraine on Matters of Nationalities and Religions, since they were not even willing to accept our petition. Thus they wanted to avoid a concrete reply, which in this case would be unlawful on their part.
