Promulgation of four episcopal consecrations
To Bishops’ Synod of UGCC
Venerable fathers of the Bishops’ Synod of UGCC,
we thereby announce to You that according to the prescribed liturgical observances we were duly consecrated Greek-Catholic bishops of the UGCC (Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church). As our step avoided the ecclesiastical procedure, we turned additionally to the Holy Father and announced to him that we had been consecrated and that we additionally ask him for his blessing.
Turning to You, we ask You to admit us to the UGCC Bishops’ Synod. We propose that one of us be appointed diocesan bishop to the eparchy of Buchach in place of its former Bishop I. Bilyk and the rest of us be assigned as auxiliary bishops to different dioceses.
We also announce to You that we are willing to undertake responsibility for the renewal of our UGCC in the following concrete fields:
a) renewal of the religious life;
b) renewal of the priestly life;
c) renewal of the formation of new priests in seminaries.
We believe that the majority of You will understand our step and will honestly offer Your hand for cooperation. We believe that You will not take any dishonest actions. In case You proceed to do so, we will thus be forced to defend God’s interests even at the cost of causing a tension. The responsibility for this tension, or – as the case may be – a division, will fall upon You. We do not claim any privileges. We just humbly offer ourselves for the cooperation in the most essential thing and that is the internal renewal of our UGCC.
In Christ,
