Announcement to the representatives
of state administration of Ukraine
about a change of the Synod of bishops of the UGCC in Ukraine
Dear representatives of state administration of Ukraine,
we announce to You that by reason of apostasy of Head of the UGCC Card. L. Husar and of 17 bishops who are in unity with his heresies, on the foundation of the Holy Scripture Card. L. Husar as well as members of the Bishops’ Synod of the UGCC in Ukraine were excommunicated from the Church.
The reality is such that any bishop, priest or believer who is an apostate is automatically excommunicated from the Church. This state cannot even be changed by the Roman Pontiff.
For this reason there was a new Bishops’ Synod appointed and elected as its Head, in place of Card. L. Husar, was the Supreme Archbishop Michailo Osidach (78).
Thereby there was no new UGCC established; what happened was just a change of leadership in the UGCC.
The new UGCC Synod appointed new bishops to the episcopal posts.
One can assume that some of the anathemized bishops will not want to give up their office and will thus cause certain tension among the faithful and the clergy. Whatever execution of office on their part in the name of the Church is now ineffective before the Church, and therefore You too ought not to take them seriously any longer. They now occupy their offices unlawfully.
Provided the individual apostate bishops repent in public, they will be admitted anew into the renewed UGCC Synod.
