Pastoral letter to the faithful of the ............. eparchy

Dear priests and faithful of the UGCC,

Head of the UGCC Kir Michailo Osidach along with all the bishops of the orthodox Catholic Synod of the UGCC bestow on You their episcopal blessing.

The most important thing in the life of every man is his eternal salvation. This salvation, however, is only in Jesus Christ. With love and desire for Your salvation we call You to revive Your love for Christ. Communion with Christ through true faith is the most important thing in our life. Therefore we implore You on behalf of Christ (cf. 2Cor 5:20) – renew Your relationship with Christ! Break with false philosophies and teachings of modern neopaganism which is built on buddhism, hinduism... Break with the liberal and materialistic view of the world and of God’s laws. Believe in the Gospel and do not receive the heretical teaching of modern theologians of HCT (historic-critical liberal theology) which treats the Holy Scripture and faith in Christ as legends. Stand up for God’s laws, stand against moral decay of the present-day world (homosexuality, euthanasia, abortions, adultery and impure life).

Often call on the name of Jesus, for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Rom 10:13).

because Cardinal L. Husar fell away from the apostolic teaching and denied the faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, he excommunicated himself from the Mystical Body of Christ – the Church – and put himself under a curse – anathema: If anyone preaches any other gospel to you, let him be accursed – anathema esto!” (Gal 1:9) As all bishops of the former Synod of the UGCC united with him (L. Husar) and with his apostatic heresies, they likewise fell away from Christ and from the Church (cf. Gal 1:9), whereby they excluded themselves from the Church. They now have no more spiritual power and occupy their episcopal office illegally. Unless and until they repent of their apostasy, they remain without Christ, without the power of the Holy Spirit and without salvation. If they die in this state, they will be eternally condemned! We therefore beseech You, dear priests and faithful, to pray earnestly and perseveringly for their conversion and salvation.

The new Bishops’ Synod in unity with the Holy Father and in the name of Christ hereby calls and obliges in conscience all priests not to mention “Patriarch Lubomyr Husar” in the divine Liturgy, starting from 10th August 2008. He never was and even is not a patriarch, but has become an apostate. Instead of him the priests shall mention in the Liturgy the Supreme Archbishop Michailo and Bishop ....... Similarly, it is forbidden to mention in the Divine Liturgy the particular apostate bishop united with L. Husar. If despite this prohibition the priest will mention the apostate’s name in the Liturgy, he will call down on himself God’s punishment, because he thus publicly unites with apostasy.

We likewise make it known to all priests and believers that they are no longer bound by obedience to the apostate Card. L. Husar and to his apostate synod.

Because of the state of emergency and because of a fight going on in the UGCC and in the whole Church for the renewal of the Catholic and apostolic faith, let every priest of the UGCC remain faithful to Christ, to the Holy Father, to the apostolic teaching and to the new Synod of the UGCC.

The priests are exempted from the obligation to pay so-called “cathedratics” (i.e. regularly paid obligatory contribution of the whole parish to the cathedral church). Until the episcopal office is occupied by the apostate bishop, and the new true-Catholic bishop is not permitted to officially take charge of his office, let every priest, listening to his conscience, work with zeal towards the salvation of souls entrusted to him in his parish, diligently observing God’s commandments.
