On Sunday 6th September 2009 Head of the UOGCC, Archbishop Mikhailo Osidach, celebrated the 20th anniversary of his episcopal consecration. On 6th September 1989 he was consecrated a Greek-Catholic bishop by Metropolitan Volodymyr Sternyuk and Bishop Phylymon Kurchaba in Lvov.

Head of the UGCC Card. M. Lyubachivskyi asked Bishop M. Osidach to assume pastoral ministry in Eastern Ukraine as a bishop. On health grounds (second heart attack) Bishop Mikhailo declined this offer.

On 1st September 2009 the Archbishop of the Ukrainian orthodox Greek-Catholic Church (UOGCC) also celebrated his 79th birthday.
