The first episcopal liturgy in Pidhirtsi
Post date: 2008-03-30Autor: Synod UO GCC
On Sunday 30th March 2008 Bishop Markian Hitiuk OSBM celebrated his first episcopal liturgy connected with bestowal of the apostolic blessing upon the faithful. Meanwhile Bishop M. Koltun, ordinary of the eparchy of Sokal (residence in Zhovkva), tried to enter the church in order to read out the so-called pastoral letter of Card. L. Husar. However, the liturgy took place in peace.
The next first episcopal liturgy was held in the same church in the night between 3rd and 4th April 2008. Every month before the First Friday a night vigil is held here. There was one on this day, too. The episcopal liturgy was celebrated by Bishop Eliáš Dohnal OSBM, who at the same time conferred the apostolic blessing on every one of the believers present. Though the episcopal liturgy was not announced in advance, it was attended by a great number of believers.
The third episcopal liturgy was celebrated by Bishop Samuel R. Oberhauser on Sunday 6th April 2008. A lot of believers arrived by buses from near and far to attend it. This celebration, connected with the apostolic blessing to individuals, also took place in peace.

The last first episcopal liturgy was celebrated by Bishop Metoděj Špiřík OSBM on Monday, the Feast of Annunciation (in Ukraine – 7th April acc. to the Julian calendar). The attendance of the faithful was relatively lower than on Sunday; nonetheless, the celebration was held in an atmosphere of faith and confidence that God through the Holy Virgin will spiritually renew our UGCC. Even this time the faithful left Pidhirtsi with the apostolic blessing.
