The news has spread via the internet throughout the world about an alleged apparition of St. Theodosius of the Cave to the former Patriarch. Shortly after this vision the Patriarch died.
Saint Theodosius stood right before the Patriarch and said with a stern reproach: “They have fallen away from God – you and your many brothers – and aligned themselves with the devil... You do not stand at the right hand of Christ. Torment, gnashing of teeth and endless suffering is in store for you unless you repent... The time of reward is at hand.” After these words the apparition disappeared.
It is not our aim to speculate on whether the apparition was true or false, or whether it was mere hallucination. But let us ask whether the content of the vision is true.
