Anathema against Greek-Catholic Archbishop Ján Babjak SJ
On authority of apostolic service conferred upon us by God and by the Church, we, the below-signed bishops of the Greek-Catholic Church, hereby make it public that the Greek-Catholic Archbishop Ján Babjak SJ, on the basis of Gal 1:8-9, is expelled from the Mystical Body of Christ, i.e. from the Church. The reason for his expulsion is his participation in the heresies of Card. L. Husar. It concerns the following heresies:
1) casting doubt upon the Divinity of Christ
2) casting doubt upon the Virginity of the Mother of God
3) casting doubt upon the eternity of hell
4) divination by pendulum
5) propagation of occultism and syncretism
6) approval of homosexuality and relativism
7) denial of the primacy and infallibility of the Pope
8) propagation of reincarnation
Heresies and subsequent apostasy are the gravest crime against Christ and against the Church. On 18th February 2009 and 2nd April 2009 the Archbishop was urged before God and before the Church to renounce the above-mentioned heresies by Good Friday, i.e. by 10th April 2009. He did not do so, but stubbornly remained identified with these heresies as well as with the spirit which is behind them.
We remind that The Pope does not need to pronounce this anathema nor can he remit it until the person concerned persists in impenitence.
In the name of the Triune God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, we hereby oblige in conscience (cf. Mt 18:18) the religious, priests and believers of the Greek-Catholic diocese of Preshov to separate from the apostate J. Babjak SJ. “Whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.” (2Jn 9-11)
