Your Holiness, we hereby ask You that in the power of supreme Church authority You restore the punishment of excommunication for membership of the Catholic Christians in secret Masonic associations.
If the punishment for membership in Masonic associations is just that the members may not receive Holy Communion, this punishment is inadequate and inefficient. If members of this organization are high Church hierarchs, the question arises concerning validity of the administered sacraments. For they are not only in a state of grave sin but, in fact, in practical apostasy.
