Your Excellency, on 6th June 2009 Fr.Róbert Bezák, a Redemptorist, is to be consecrated a bishop for the Trnava diocese. In an interview for the press he characterizes himself as a sportsman and a fan of rock music. Throughout the interview not a single word was said about the most fundamental questions of the faith or about Jesus. How is it possible that a man with the spirit of the world has been nominated for pastoral office? As for him, he can be justified, because he did not nominate himself. It is those who chose him who are to blame. The blame falls in the first place on the concrete individuals from the KBS (Bishops’ Conference of Slovakia) who pushed him through to this office. The next to be punished are the other bishops who mechanically approved this choice. With You, too, lies no small responsibility.
