True Obedience

Your Holiness, we have turned to You with a very serious problem and that is abuse of obedience in the Church.
In the time of St. Basil the Great the majority of bishops fell away to Arianism, so they no longer believed in the Divinity of Christ.
Through false obedience they drew whole Christian territories in apostasy. Saint Basil therefore clarifies the question of true obedience: “If someone orders something that is contrary to Christ’s teaching, do not pay heed to whether he is promising life or threatening with death, such one you must not obey by any means!
It makes no difference whether this order comes from someone of the apostles (bishops), even if it were the very angel from heaven, you must not obey! (cf. Gal 1:8-9)” (rule No. 303).
Historic-critical theology (HCT) denies the Divinity of Jesus Christ, His resurrection and the inspiration of the Scriptures.
This is apostasy from Christ and from the Church. If any priest or bishop has opened himself to this spirit of apostasy,
the faithful must no more be deceived by the fact that he holds office, and they must no more obey such apostates.
