At the beginning of the last century Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyi, who strived after a true spiritual welfare of the Ukrainian nation, enlightened by the Holy Spirit gave our Church and our nation an actual cure for the spiritual disease of modernism, and that was the worship of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. The fruit then was a sound and manful piety which brought as a result hundreds of martyrs for the sake of our Eastern Catholic Church (in the years 1946-1990).
This personal piety brought along even a healthy Christian lifestyle that gave the strength to fight against the spirit
of the world which morally disintegrates individuals, families and the whole nation.
Regrettably, Fr. M. Sus, the author of the article “God is Love” (from “Vilne ?itja” /Free Life/, January 17 and 24, 2007),
degrades the worship of the Most Sacred Heart and this statement he ridicules the official teaching of the Church
(e.g. the encyclical of Pius XII).
