Cardinal L. Husar and yoga
Post date: 2009-03-19Autor:
The idolatry of yoga consists in the fact that all yogis believe in themselves as in gods or part of godhood. Yoga in its essence is self-redemption, i.e.
rejection of Jesus Christ as the only Saviour. Here lies the root of apostasy of a Christian who practises yoga.
Whoever intensely practises yoga inevitably falls more and more under the influence of Satan. Through the flowing of energy of the universe (pagan demons) the yoga disciple exchanges Jesus’ kingdom of light for the kingdom of darkness, which he notices only when it is too late already.
Nevertheless, Card. Husar says on behalf of the whole UGCC: “Yoga as an exercise – psychological, mental – brings benefit.”
In this case the standpoint of the Orthodox Church, which unlike L. Husar rejects the nowadays popular practising of yoga and meditation techniques, is fully orthodox, i.e. it is in accordance with the Scripture and Tradition!
