He is born to us...
Holiness consists in the fact that we stand in the light every day and repent immediately of our self-will, stubbornness or pride which rebels against God. We need to become aware of our sins which we have committed in our life, to bow our head and to confess: “Lord, I have done this and this, and now I have rebelled against You again…” In this way, we immediately bring the spirit of pride to light, so it flees very quickly and we receive peace and light for the next steps. All rebellion, self-pity… must be nailed to the cross daily, at all times. Without this it is not possible to truly follow Christ and to be delivered from sin. Only then will God’s Word be true in our life: “Christ lives in me.” Otherwise Christ cannot live in us but it is the old self which lives in us and has its own programme – hell both here on earth and after death. The old self serves the devil and is ready even to lay down its life for his sake. We must burn with holy anger: “STOP! There must be an end to it! I know whom I have believed and whom I serve! The programme for me is Jesus. He is my Way. He is my Life. I will not serve myself or my old self!” If we serve ourselves and hence the spirit of pride and lies, this spirit leads us by the nose every day, every day we can see the pernicious fruit, and yet we often believe it again. We do not believe the Word of God and Christ, who is the Word Incarnate, and when the Lord tries to set us on the right path, we grumble and resist. We need to stop and repent time and time again and to give thanks for everything! “O Lord, I do not understand, but I thank You.” Let our hearts praise the Lord at all times: “Glory to God in the highest…” (Lk 2:14), as the angels sang above Bethlehem. Let us praise God like the Blessed Virgin.
Even if people spat in our face, considered us criminals or beat us for the sake of Christ, let us bear in mind: “I know whom I have believed. Sursum corda! – Lift up your hearts!” We must always bear these thoughts in mind and, on the other hand, we must cut off and throw away all moods and proud thoughts. “Get out! That’s a lie! I believe God’s Word!”
Let each of us personally pray for this change of mind. Christ has come into the world for our sake. So let Christ really come into our lives, into the Church…, let Him be born in us!
He is born to us.
