The essence of episcopal ministry is to preach the Gospel, to defend the orthodox catholic teaching and at the same time to punish those who preach a different Gospel – i.e. heretics! (cf. Gal 1:8-9) If a bishop does not fulfil this ministry in the Church he deserves punishment, for he does not fulfil his primary duty. The consequence is the decay of the Church and eternal condemnation of many.
