A reform of the Code
Post date: 2009-02-14Autor:
Your Holiness, we now bring forward another vital element of the reform, and that is an amendment to the Canon Code.
The Code makes the bishop into a Church property manager, a mere clerical worker. His primary task, i.e. leading the entrusted souls to holiness by his own example and protection of the purity of faith and morals, is not emphasized. The duty to sanctify the people of God is reduced to administering the sacraments. And this is not sufficient!
The Code does not reckon with the possibility that in the hands of those who have heretical thinking and spirit of the world it might serve to kill the faithful and genuine God’s children and Christ’s witnesses. Regrettably, this is the case today. The Protestants hold the Catholic Church up to ridicule, for she has put the Code higher than the Bible, i.e. human commandments higher than the commandments of God.
