Why is there such blindness?

Why is there such blindness even with those Christians who have good will? Because they do not know how to deliver themselves time and again to Christ’s death. Because they practically did not receive and were not penetrated by the reality of their own death, God’s judgement and eternity. A Christian thinks that he is serving God but in fact he is a slave of his own self-realization. If one wants to serve God honestly, then he is literally humbled to the dust of the earth, not understood and abandoned. In these situations God begins to point at sin which dwells in us (Rom 7:20) – ego which eventually always again and again is pursuing its reputation and its importance.

If in my service for Christ I am not aiming at self-realization but first of all I am aiming at the very relation to Christ, then I have come to understand what it means always to be delivered to Christ’s death (cf. 2Cor 4:10f) as well as what it means to love God with all my heart and my neighbour as myself. If this Christ’s death does not touch my inward, I will always and everywhere seek only myself even if I held the highest or even the lowest office in the Church. Then the result will be null or negative, of course.

A pattern of Church managership is a certain priest who was remarkably elected a bishop. One can say about him: With genuine Catholics he is a genuine Catholic, with liberals he is a liberal, with apostates he is an apostate, with Masons he is a Mason, with schismatics he is a schismatic, with Catholics he is a Catholic, with Focolarines he is a Focolarine, with charismatics he is a charismatic, with occultists he is an occultist, with visionaries he is a visionary, with smokers he is a smoker, with buddhists he is a buddhist, with Russniaks he is a Russniak, with Hungarians he is a Hungarian, with Slovaks he is a Slovak, with Ukrainians he is a Ukrainian, with intrigants he is an intrigant. With all he is in unity, he has become all things to all men so that all may willingly help him, and at best that they may get him to his hidden aim – to achieve the highest career in the Church: the cardinal’s hat. However, this hat will not guarantee eternal salvation to anyone; quite the contrary, it brings a danger of its loss. Such types of people from their very first day in the seminary systematically followed their aim – a career, and did not follow Christ. Thank God that not all of them managed to get to the chosen caste; nevertheless, in the place they are they make others feel their importance, and they have never understood what it means to lose one’s soul for Christ’s sake and the Gospel’s (cf. Mk 8:35). Such “spiritual” person, whether it is a bishop or a religious or even a common believer, is actually for all his life serving sin (deceit) which is in us, the Holy Scripture calls it “old man” (Rom 6:6).

The response to the question why it happened that Christians became so blind and secularized is that they did not understand the substance of Christianity and there was noone to show it to them. This substance is the following of Christ in truth – that means to lose one’s soul (life) for His sake (cf. Mt 10:39), to be Christ’s witness – martyr (cf. Acts 1:8) and not an apostate!!!
