Consecration of the Kievan Rus – Ukraine – to the Mother of God (1037-2007)

Letter to the Politicians of Ukraine

In 1037 – as reads the Ukrainian oldest chronicle – the prince Yaroslav the Wise built on the “Golden Gates” in Kiev the church of the Annunciation. In 1037 in this church he consecrated Kievan Rus – Ukraine – to the Mother of our Saviour, to the Most Holy Virgin.

This year we will commemorate already the 970th anniversary of this consecration and at the same time the 90th anniversary of the apparition of the Holy Virgin in Fatima. During Her apparitions in Portugal, the Holy Virgin mentioned concretely only one state of the world the consecration of which She demanded – Russia – thus She indirectly included in Her message also Ukraine.

This year we also commemorate the 20th anniversary of the apparition of the Holy Virgin in Ukraine, in the village of Hrushiv. 26th April 1987 was the day of the first anniversary of the catastrophe of Czernobyl. On this day Virgin Mary appeared on the territory of the former Soviet Union, namely in the village of Hrushiv, in Lvov region. It was the greatest mass apparition which has ever taken place in the world. There were 40-50 thousand pilgrims coming every day and the majority of them could see the Holy Virgin. The Holy Virgin in Hrushiv pronounced several messages in which She addressed especially Ukraine, the first nation in the world which consecrated itself to Her, and that as early as 1037: “Ukraine, my daughter, I am coming to you in the hardest moments of your life. You were the first to choose me as your Patroness (Queen).” And another time: “Teach your children how to pray, teach your children how to live in truth, Czernobyl is the remainder and the sign to the whole world... Ukraine will become an independent state; repent and love each other. The times are coming that were foretold as the end of the ages. Look at the confusion that is ruling in the world, at sins, indifference, bloodshed. I am coming to you with tears in my eyes, asking you: give your strengths to the service of good and God’s glory. Give your strengths to the service of God, for without it there is no happiness and noone can win God’s kingdom. Ukrainians must become apostles to Russian nations, for unless Russia is converted to Christianity there will come a third world war.”

We would like to commemorate these three jubilees related to Ukraine particularly in the ceremonial divine services in Pidhirtsi on 13th and 14th October 2007. About 12 km from here is the village of Ozhidiv where a great disaster happened in these days which in a certain manner has impact upon whole Ukraine. May even this tragedy be a motive for the Ukrainian politicians to make a stop on the way to national freedom. May every Ukrainian ask himself whether he earnestly reckons with God in his life and whether he reckons with the law of God which God has put into human conscience. Throughout a thousand years even the civil laws, European morals, culture and justice were founded on God’s laws – on the Decalogue.

Yaroslav the Wise consecrated Ukraine to the Holy Virgin. The attribute – “Wise” – was given to him for his wise government of the state, for his love to education, for his care of religious education as well as for the codification of Ukrainian customary law in the legal code under the title “Rus Justice”, which is the oldest Slavonic legal code. In the laws he set Yaroslav the Wise prohibits various forms of divination and magic which were closely related to paganism. Also his father Volodymyr the Great enforced moral laws by which he stood up against pagan divination and various forms of magic and folk superstitions which lead people away from the reality – from the life in truth – to a false way. If the spiritual, moral as well as material (economic) renewal and awakening of the nation is to come, as it is nowadays in Uganda which is a pattern of nationwide conversion to Christ, there must be three basic principles respected:

1)      The nation as such must publicly confess Christ. This step was made by Yaroslav the Wise when he consecrated our nation to Christ and to the Holy Virgin.

2)      The second step is to stand up as a nation against occultism, that is against all forms of magic and divination which spiritually dull common sense and weaken the will in the fight for truth and justice.

3)      The third step is that the whole nation collectively stands up against corruption.

Even if nowadays there were firm and just laws established, which is the first condition of the renewal of the nation, by means of bribes these laws will be circumvented again, so the one who has money will “buy” the truth as well as justice – and this is a crime!

Ukraine, its deputies and its leading political representatives, especially in the situation of the approaching elections, is now standing before a historic decision in what direction it will proceed. Whether it will take the way of decadence – supposing that it adopts perverted laws which are against humanity and which are being enforced by the European Union (“marriages” of homosexuals, abortions, euthanasia, propagation of the spirit of the New Age, modern paganism and antichristianity), or whether it will choose as its root the sound morals which formed Ukrainians as well as Europe and her civilization for 1000 years on the basis of Decalogue and Christianity. This is connected with private as well as public receipt of Christ! The historic crossroads at which Ukraine is standing in these days and has to decide calls for a public gesture, similar to the one that was made by Yaroslav the Wise almost 1000 years ago. Such gesture was also made by the President of Uganda not long ago. Its consequence was the introduction of true freedom and justice and even the economic revival of the whole state. However, this was preceded by spiritual awakening which is always connected with the reevangelization of the particular nation. Yet such reevangelization needs tried evangelists who preach the Word of God in power and spread it by help of massmedia, too!

The first step towards the spiritual awakening of the nation is that the deputies who represent it can meet with God’s truth. As monks who live according to the rules of St. Basil and whose monastic tradition is connected with the Eastern liturgy and tradition of this nation as well as with the worship of the Most Holy Virgin, we offer concrete help and give ourselves at the disposal for the realization of this first step. This reevangelization and spiritual resurrection of the nation will be cunningly opposed by extrasensory individuals, diviners and magicians as well as by other servants of the spiritual rule of darkness who call down a curse upon the whole nation!

This spiritual resurrection is followed by a blessing for all people. Therefore it is necessary to establish even such laws which prohibit the activity of these servants of darkness who hold in spiritual but also in material slavery as individuals so the whole nation. These steps will be fully understood only by those who in the rudimentary 5-day-long course which we propose will open themselves wholly to Christ and receive His Mother as their own – as Christ gave Her to us in His testament in the hour of His death on the cross. This will be understood by those who in this course will open themselves to the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of truth (see Jn 14:17). Only He is the guarantee of true life wisdom (cf. 1Cor 1:20) which those who lead the entrusted people need most!

Thereby we ask all members of parliament as well as the political leaders, President V. Yushchenko, V. Yanukovych and J. Tymoshenko, to consider our offer. Concrete conditions of these 5-day-long courses of spiritual opening to a living contact with Christ can be agreed by written or some other form.

After receiving Christ Uganda stood against the spirit of occultism and against the spirit of darkness and death which held the nation in confusion and corruption. Finally it brought even the recovery of morals, human relations and of economics, too.

By receiving Christ we receive eternal life and blessing on earth!

By receiving occultism we lose eternal life and have a curse on earth!

It is necessary to know about these diametrically opposed attitudes. It is not possible to join them together. Here holds one or the other! It is a known fact that some deputies visit fortune-tellers and other occultists and take their advice. We publicly declare that if some deputy got under the influence of these people, he thus got under the rule of darkness and under spiritual curse and brings this curse upon whole Ukraine. The only solution is to repent of such deed. In his 65th rule St. Basil imposed for this sin the same punishment as for a murder, i.e. 20 years on bread and water! Later on these punishments were moderated; however, the liberation of a soul from this spirit of darkness is necessary. It is achieved through receiving of Christ and through concretely renouncing of this spirit and at the same time of all other forms of occultism! (cf. rules of St. Basil Nos. 72, 81, 83)

The constitution of Ukraine has up to this time officially referred to God. In the First Commandment of the Decalogue God prohibits the activity of fortune-tellers, diviners and magic as well as the respect for other gods, which is, in fact, demons. This false respect and this return to paganism and even to satanism are a worldwide trend nowadays. The activity of occultists leaves deep spiritual as well as psychical effects which will often become manifest only after a long time but certainly in the hour of death.

St. Methodius, who along with his brother St. Cyril brought the Gospel to all Slavonic nations and created the Slavonic (Cyrillic) alphabet, reproved the princes by the following words: “Therefore every prince is obliged to teach God’s, Christ’s law. None of the rulers therefore should stand far from God, let him not obstruct anything of these written regulations, so that he himself be thus not condemned into eternal fire...” (St. Methodius: Reproofs to the rulers)

At the close of this letter let us remind ourselves the three basic steps in order that God’s blessing may be poured down upon the whole Ukrainian nation:

1)      The nation as such must publicly confess Christ (its deputies first; the means to it is a 5-day-long spiritual course).

2)      The nation must stand against occultism, that is against all forms of magic and divination which spiritually dull common sense and weaken the will in the fight for truth and justice.

3)      The nation must jointly stand against corruption.

Let us therefore realize the prophetical word of the Holy Virgin: “Ukrainians must become apostles to Russian nations, for unless Russia is converted to Christianity there will come a third world war!”
