At the present time the crimes of child rape inside the Church have come out into the open. One would expect that Church representatives will repent sincerely and issue just norms so as to prevent new crimes. Unfortunately, the document of 2001 contains nothing like this. The Directives hypocritically appeal to the canon law (CIC); however, by their ineffectiveness they actually open the door to the further spread of paedophilia. They are just an alibiing reaction to the pressure of the victims.
