At the beginning of this year I advocated my doctoral thesis at the Olomouc University (CR) under the title: “Renewal of the Basilian Order in the spirit of the monastic ideal of St. Basil the Great”. I wrote about the past and presence of the Order, leaning on the Basilian annals, on the works of Constitutional commissions and on the thoughts of the General Superior D. Ljakhovych regarding the charisma of the Order: community, unity, mission. I wrote about the traditional view of the merits of the Basilian Order for the sake of unity and the Greek-Catholic (Uniate) Church. During this work I met with many warnings on the part of my opponents: “In the present time it is necessary to revalue this role in the spirit of the resolutions of Balamand where the Uniatehood as a model and method of unification of the Church was rejected.”
