These words of St. Basil likewise are topical for the situation in Ukraine and apply to heretical bishops: “Do not let yourselves be misled by their lie when they declare their loyalty to the faith, for such men traffic in Christ and are no Christians. They always choose what is advantageous to them in this life, and not the life consonant with the truth. ...they pretend that they are orthodox. I do not regard as a bishop or a clergyman the one who received the title from such shameful hands with the intention of destroying the faith...” (see ordinations or consecrations by the apostate Card.
