The orthodox Catholic Bishops’ Synod of the UGCC hereby announces to all believers of the UGCC that the consecration of Fr. J. Shevchuk of 7th April 2009 is invalid. Similarly, the consecration of Fr. J. Milyan of 18th June 2009 is invalid.
The named priests did not receive episcopal consecration but a curse. The reason is that a bishop who is a heretic (apostate) does not transmit the power of the Holy Spirit but a curse. St. Basil writes: “Heretical bishops are alien to God. Let those be accursed too who go over to them.” (Canons of the Eastern Churches, can. 37) We further announce to all believers: If whichever bishop of the apostatic (i.e. official) Synod of the UGCC ordains someone a priest, it likewise holds true that the concerned does not receive from him God’s power but a curse.
