Reverend Father Vasylij Kovbyč and Fathers of the General Council, on 4th July 2004 we sent You a request in which we asked You to help us in our legal transition to another form of monastic life, so that we could be under a jurisdiction of a bishop. The previous General Superior had verbally threatened us before, that if we were to do this, they would abolish the Czech Delegature.

On Sunday 1st August 2004 at 4 pm to the monastery arrived Basilian fathers from the Province. After being welcomed by the local fathers, they suggested a talk with the Superior Fr. Roman Shelepko OSBM. To the request that Fr. Eliáš Dohnal OSBM was present at the talk, the Provincial Superior replied in a negative way and did not want to permit it trying to turn Fr. Eliáš out of doors. A sharp exchange of opinions took place. Neither the Provincial Superior nor anyone of those who arrived along with him did present a single argument which would explain their way of behaviour. We asked them for reasonable settlement of situation on the basis of our Constitution OSBM and CCEO. However, we did not get a positive answer.

We came to know, that a cessation of the mission we have been carrying out in the Pidhirci monastery and at other paces in Ukraine is being prepared at the General Assembly; that we should be dispersed and isolated so that the mission could not continue. There is no real substance for such liquidation. Mission is the main charisma of our Order and we can see how necessary it is for the whole Ukraine.
